Reflections on Sea Level Rise in the Year 2100

2015 / mirrors, acrylic / 24”x90”x1” (ea.)

These large mirrors are covered in blue acrylic panels that represent the average projected sea level rise in 2100, according to the New York Panel on Climate Change in 2013. At 2.3 feet high, the acrylic allows viewers to see a reflection of themselves relative to the predicted waterline, making the threat of sea level rise more personal and real. This work was created for “FLUID” at Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art.
